ABSTRACT:
The Romanian Revolution of 1989 radically and rapidly changed the configuration of Romanian society. The fall of the Communist system opened a new perspective. The social
categories and groups that existed during Communism received a new profile and a set of new functions in the horizon opened by the fall of the Communist regime in 1989. The main social categories that existed before 1989 were represented by: the Communist politica class, the workers, the peasants and the intellectuals. The destiny of these categories follwed different paths after 1989.
