ABSTRACT
This paper presents a quantitative research study among high school graduates. The survey was made during the 2007-2008 school year and it used a questionnaire applied to a representative sample of high school graduate students from nine Arad high schools. The data were collected using a closed ended questionnaire, part of a wider project initiated by ProDemocraţia Foundation
in colaboration with Western University „Vasile Goldiş” Arad and „Aurel Vlaicu” University Arad. The pruposes of this survey were to point out the high school graduates’ intentions towards their future education. The paper presents the questionnaire design, the survey’s methodology and the results regarding students’ intentions. The final results and the statistical analysis presents students’ intentions whether continuing their education or not and the choice they make in choosing universities from Romania, E.U., U.S.A., the choice they make regarding their professional orientation, the universities programmes they intend to follow, their desire of being active persons in Romania or in other countries.
